COVID-19 Safety Message: Visit our practice with confidence – your safety is our top concern.
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
Did you know that in-office teeth whitening could change how you feel about your smile? It’s amazing how much healthier and younger you will appear without yellowed or stained teeth.
Why Should I Visit a Dentist for Teeth Whitening?
Having a pain-free, professional teeth whitening treatment ensures that you’ll have a dazzling smile in just one afternoon. The bleaching treatment available from our office can remove stains caused by smoking and drinking dark beverages, but it will not bleach away stains inside your tooth, such as a filling or decay. We do offer solutions to these types of problems. Teeth whitening treatments only work on stained enamel, they do not alter the color of veneers and fillings.
Call our office to schedule a consultation with a teeth bleaching dentist who will evaluate your staining and determine if teeth whitening is right for you.
How Does Teeth Whitening at Home Work?
Our dentist will make custom trays for you to use at home, which will ensure the professional grade teeth whitening gel does not irritate your gums. You will receive the exact strength of whitening solution that you need to achieve your whitening goals.
What is the Average Teeth Bleaching Cost?
The teeth whitening cost varies since each of our patients has unique needs. A person with very stained teeth may need a kit to take home to reach the level of whiteness that they desire. We also see patients with restorations, such as crowns, that need their color evened out. Call our office to arrange a teeth whitening consultation and our dentist can tell you how much your treatment will cost.
Do Teeth Whitening Products from the Drug Store Work?
They do work, however, your teeth will only be slightly whiter as products sold in stores do not have professional-grade bleaching agents. In-office teeth bleaching offers you considerably whiter teeth in 60 to 90 minutes, while products that you can buy in your local drug store may take weeks to give you slightly whiter teeth.
How Does a Teeth Bleaching Dentist Whiten Teeth?
The process is straightforward, and while some teeth whitening processes use a laser or an intense light once the bleaching agent is on your teeth, the steps are the same. After your examination and teeth cleaning, our dentist will:
- Protect your gums with a gel or a rubber dam
- Use a cheek retractor to keep your lips and cheeks from being irritated by the bleaching agent
- Apply the teeth whitening bleach and leave it on for a predetermined period of time
- Evaluate the results and make adjustments if necessary
This process can take from an hour to 90 minutes. Our dentist may send you home with a tray-based teeth whitening kit to enhance the color or in order to maintain it. You can expect the level of whiteness to last a year or two, but it depends on how often you consume staining foods and beverages. A general rule is that if it will stain your clothing, it will stain your teeth.
